BEYOND THE WILDWOOD TRIBUTE TO SYD BARRETT

Ai réécouté aujourd'hui un des nombreux albums d'hommage à Syd Barrett, le grand disparu inspirateur de ce blog. Beyond the wildwood (Imaginary Records) est une fantastique compilation sans la moindre faute de goût qui retrace le parcours bref, mais ô combien riche du talentueux guitariste du Floyd. Parmi les artistes qui se sont frottés aux mélodies acides de Barrett, retenons Plasticland (Octopus), Paul Roland (Matilda mother) , Fit & Limo (Long cold look), The TV Personalities ( Apples and oranges) et Opal (The sun don't shine), mais chacun des 17 morceaux que comporte cette compilation vaut le détour. Et c'est avec une joie non dissimulée que j'ai découvert que Golden Hair était en fait l'adaptation de Poem V extrait de Chamber Music de James Joyce... Comme quoi, tout est dans tout.
